Jamming and Spoofing:
A Hot Topic

GPSIA is firmly committed to protecting GPS, GNSS, and complementary PNT from harmful and illegal interference.

Lisa Dyer, GPSIA's Executive Director, has spoken extensively with public officials and the press about the importance of protecting these systems from harmful and illegal interference, particularly outside of conflict zones where public safety and global commerce are being impacted on a daily basis.

In September 2025, GPSIA proudly led a coalition of industry organizations in sending a letter to Secretary Hegseth and Secretary Duffy, highlighting the impacts of jamming and spoofing to transportation systems and global commerce. GPSIA also sent a list of recommendations that outlined how jamming and spoofing could be solved, ranging from low to no-cost to technological solutions. These recommendations can be acted upon today and in the next few years. We have the technology; it is time for political will to be exercised.

We previously issued statements about jamming and spoofing, which can be found here and here.
