GPSIA Celebrates Launch of 10th GPS III Satellite,
Looks to Next Generation GPS IIIF to Further Modernization
WASHINGTON, D.C. April 21, 2026 – Lisa Dyer, Executive Director of the GPS Innovation Alliance (GPSIA), issued the following statement:
“GPSIA congratulates the Department of the Air Force, the United States Space Force, Lockheed Martin, and SpaceX on the successful launch of the tenth and final GPS III satellite. This milestone completes the GPS III constellation and represents the culmination of over a decade of work to deliver a more resilient and more capable GPS for military, civil, commercial, and scientific users around the world.
“Together, the ten GPS III satellites transform the constellation. Each GPS III satellite possesses anti-jamming capabilities eight times more powerful than previous generations, along with enhanced accuracy and a new civil signal. These improvements support an even better experience for the billions of users who rely on GPS every single day. These signals help emergency responders and everyday travelers navigate more efficiently, increase the resilience of our transportation networks, ensure warfighters can operate in contested environments, and much more.
“The completion of the GPS III program is also a moment to look ahead. The next generation GPS III Follow-on satellites will build on this foundation with even greater capacity, including 63 times greater anti-jamming protection and new payloads for supporting search and rescue missions. With the GPS III constellation now fully operational and GPS IIIF satellites in active production, GPSIA celebrates ongoing efforts to ensure U.S. leadership in positioning, navigation, and timing for generations to come.”
