GPSIA Congratulates General Douglas A. Schiess 

on his Confirmation as Chief of Space Operations

Lisa Dyer, Executive Director of the GPS Innovation Alliance (GPSIA), issued the following statement:

 

“GPSIA congratulates General Douglas A. Schiess on his Confirmation as Chief of Space Operations of the United States Space Force. General Schiess will lead Space Force Guardians at a pivotal moment for our nation’s space capabilities, and GPSIA welcomes his clear commitment to modernizing America’s Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) infrastructure.  

 

“We appreciate General Schiess’ focus on fielding next-generation GPS IIIF satellites, securing capabilities against electronic warfare threats, and integrating complementary PNT technology. These priorities are critical to ensuring U.S. leadership in space and our nation’s continued safety, security, and economic strength.

 

“GPSIA looks forward to partnering with General Schiess and the Space Force to ensure modernization efforts serve the full range of GPS users – military, civil, commercial, and scientific.  We encourage General Schiess to build on the momentum of GPS III and IIIF by advancing all of the civil signals alongside military capabilities, ensuring that GPS modernization strengthens both warfighter readiness and the broader ecosystem of users who depend on GPS every day.
