Statement from Lisa Dyer on the passage of the
FY27 National Defense Authorization Act in the House of Representatives
The GPS Innovation Alliance thanks Rep. Jefferson Shreve (IN-06) for his efforts to accelerate GPS modernization. He recognizes the need for fast, decisive action to secure U.S. leadership in space by accelerating production and deployment of modernized GPS IIIF satellites, upgrading the GPS ground station, bringing the powerful L5 aviation safety signal online, and recognizing the ability of commercial satellite positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) systems to augment and complement GPS.
We urge the Senate to preserve Rep. Shreve's focus on accelerating overdue GPS modernizations to bolster this critical American asset, and for integrating commercial PNT systems into critical infrastructure and accelerating the deployment of military GPS user equipment and the integration of new receivers into weapons systems. Military, civil, commercial and scientific users, and all Americans rely on PNT-enabled receivers, devices, and applications. Rep. Shreve’s amendment will help ensure America leads the world in positioning, navigation, and timing technologies.
