GPSIA Congratulates Ms. Danielle Thumann Severs

on her Nomination as Federal Communications Commission Commissioner

Lisa Dyer, Executive Director of the GPS Innovation Alliance (GPSIA), issued the following statement:

 

“GPSIA congratulates Ms. Danielle Thumann Severs on her nomination to serve as a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner. Throughout her career, in the private sector and as senior counsel to Chairman Brendan Carr, she has demonstrated a profound understanding of complex telecommunications policy, public safety, and the vital spectrum issues that shape our nation's economic and security frameworks.

“The FCC plays an important role in protecting radionavigation satellite services from harmful interference. It is critical that the Commission continues to balance the growth of new, innovative systems with existing technologies such as the Global Positioning System (GPS) that advance economic, public safety, military, and scientific benefits. We look forward to working with Ms. Thumann Severs and the rest of the Commission to protect and enhance the vital GPS services Americans rely on every day and promote space-based complementary positioning, navigation, and timing services.”
